  • DO I NEED TO BE AN EXPERIENCED FLYFISHER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FLIERS PROGRAM?
No! With their staff of extremely attentive guides, Kulik Lodge is the ideal place for the beginning angler to be exposed to the sport of fly fishing. Additionally, you’ll find our program presenters and attendees to be highly supportive, as well as being a source of exceptional knowledge and experience!
  • WILL I NEED TO PACK A LOT OF GEAR FOR A FLIERS SESSION AT KULIK?
No! Kulik provides all necessary boots, waders, rods, reels, and flies for an exceptional fishing experience. Simply pack a common-sense collection of layered clothing and raingear for the day’s fishing, and comfortable clothing for evenings in the lodge. (Kulik Lodge will provide a suggested packing list when you make your reservation/booking.) A small notebook is all that you’ll likely want for note-taking at FLIERS evening presentations. Most importantly, don’t forget your camera!
  • HOW MUCH TIME WILL BE DEVOTED TO FLIERS PROGRAM ACTIVITIES?
The daily progression of meals and fishing at Kulik, to include optional fly-outs to neighboring drainages for the day’s adventures, primarily leaves a block of evening presentation and discussion at the lodge for our group, following the nightly dinner. Lessons and discussion-points will be formatted for focus and follow-up during your next day’s fishing; you’ll then have an opportunity to report your findings back to the group that evening!
  • ARE THERE ANY EXPENSES THAT AREN’T COVERED IN THE LODGE AND FLIERS FEES?
Yes. While your $395.00 FLIERS fee covers all evening presentation-content and materials, and your direct booking of $7,495.00 with Kulik Lodge covers Anchorage to Kulik roundtrip air transportation, all meals, lodging, and daily guided fishing on the Kulik River with all gear, the Kulik fee does not cover optional fly-outs, lodge staff gratuities, or the cost of your Alaska sport fishing license. (A one week, nonresident sport fishing license is $45.00, and can be purchased in Anchorage, at the lodge, or online prior to your arrival at: Shop as Guest-State of Alaska Department of Fish and Game Online Store)
  • DO I NEED TO MAKE MY OWN TRAVEL & LODGING ARRANGEMENTS TO/FROM ANCHORAGE?
Yes. You’ll fly directly to Kulik from Anchorage on one of Katmai Air’s Pilatus-PC12 aircraft, bypassing the commercial flights and connections required in King Salmon or Dillingham that nearly all other Bristol-Bay region lodges require. However, we recommend that you be in Anchorage the night before your scheduled morning departure to Kulik, residing at whichever hotel you choose. If desired, you’ll likely be able to book an afternoon or evening flight from Anchorage on the day of your Kulik departure, so that another night’s stay in Anchorage will not be necessary.
  • I DESPERATELY WANT TO ATTEND FLIERS, BUT I HAVE A CONFLICT WITH THE SCHEDULED SESSION’S DATES. CAN I GET ON A WAITLIST FOR THE NEXT SESSION?
Yes! Contact us and submit your program application; you’ll be notified when the next session is scheduled!
